Disappointment for some, relief for others, but evaluation criteria for class 12th results causing sense of confusion academicia. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) took a decision that students of Class 12 will have their results based on their performance in the Classes 10 and 11 final exams and Class 12 pre-board exams. Govt School Teachers Association General Secretary Ajay Veer Yadav said, “Students are prepared for their examination. Even teachers are not satisfied. Students having 50% above marks should be appearing for examination.” “The decision taken may be good but the 30% criteria not worthy. The students don’t have the pressure in class 11. The student tries to do best in class 12. But I am happy,” a student said. “I am not satisfied. Pre-boards are taken lightly. It is not good for the students who haven’t performed well in class 10,” another student said. “I am not very happy with the decision. Students have to face a lot of challenges in the future as the universities took admission on merit basis. Internal assessment should focus only on Class 12,” a teacher said. As per the evaluation criteria released by the 12-member CBSE committee, 30 percent weightage each will be given to Class 10 and 11 final results, and 40 percent to Class 12th exams to evaluate the results. Practicals will be for 100 marks and the students will be marked based on the marks submitted by the schools. CBSE will declare the results of Class 12 by July 31.
